Trimper
Children
Sam 5, Max 9, Maddie 7

Jeff and Jane Trimper are both elementary school
teachers from Stanton, Michigan. They have 3 children, Max, age 9, Maddie,
age 7 and Sam, age 5. They are a wonderful and loving family. On October
25, 2002 they were devastated to discover that Max has a rare genetic
disorder called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). Since this is a
recessive genetic condition the other 2 children were tested and also
found to have the disease. All three children have (had) MLD.
Max underwent a stem cell transplant on January 16, 2003 in Minneapolis. He
is now going to school and undergoing Physical, Occupational and Speech
therapy. They continue to see improvement in all areas and Max. Maddie
and Sam had their transplants October 3, 2003 at Duke University. They
had their transplants before they started to show symptoms. Things went
well and now we are hoping and praying that the cells do their work.
The kids are doing great.
Sam is in school and medication free. Maddie
is still having some health issues, but doing very well. She will begin
school next fall.
